Youth Development Programmes Meeting Mandate, Says National Security Minister

The various specialised youth programmes conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force are meeting their objectives of developing life skills, patriotism and nationalism.

Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, said since the Civilian Conservation Corp was set up for persons 16 to 25 years in 1999 about thirty thousand young individuals have graduated from the programme.

Minister Hinds also spoke about another programme named the Military Led Academic Training Programme which runs for two years where the Caribbean Examination Council certification is focused on for those who did not get it in the formal education system graduated over one thousand persons.

The Military-Led Youth Programme of Apprenticeship and Reorientation Training, the GRACE Programme which is targeted at community empowerment and the Cadet Force were also highlighted by Minister Hinds.
