MP Calls On RIC To Keep WASA On Their Toes Following Recently Announced Water Schedule

Member of Parliament for Princes Town, Barry Padarath has responded to the news of WASA’s water restrictions by calling on the Regulated Industries Commission to actively monitor and do spot checks to ensure WASA adheres to their schedule.

MP Padarath stated residents often complain they do not receive water on the scheduled days and when these complaints are raised in the Parliament, the Minister for Public Utilities always denies it.

Given the rate review that is ongoing by the RIC, MP Padarath said customers must be guaranteed a proper service and it is the RIC’s job to ensure this happens.

MP Padarath stated a more transparent and effective system must be put in place for citizens to voice their concerns, suggesting regional hotlines or one per constituency as one alternative.

Especially since citizens complain about WASA’S lack of responsiveness.
