Reappointment Of The National Council for Sustainable Development

The National Council for Sustainable Development is reappointed.

Cabinet appointed the Council  three years ago.

This was done under the stewardship of the Environmental Management Authority.

It was done to develop and oversee the National Environmental Policy action plan.

These goals and accomplishments by the NCSD thus far, is in keeping with the national development strategy, Vison 2030 which is built on the support of the Global Sustainable Goals.

The NCSD is responsible for the oversight of the following:

  • Making recommendations toward the development of an NEP Action Plan.
  • Providing advice and guidance on issues facing the development and implementation of the NEP and its Action Plan.
  • Making recommendations for the prioritization of the thematic areas within each Priority Area in the short, medium and long term.
  • Making recommendations for the compositions of a minimum of six NEP Working Groups to prepare and execute implementation plans aligned with the prioritized thematic areas.
