The first case of the Omicron Variant of concern has been reported in Trinidad and Tobago.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at the Health Ministry’s Virtual Media Update this morning.
Giving details on the case, Deyalsingh said that while it is an imported case, the female was allowed to access air travel even though she had a positive PCR test.
He said the individual then continued their journey and obtained a negative Antigen test in Panama.
He went on to explain that there will be investigations into the incident and congratulated the screening team here in T&T.
