Xhaiden Darius And Caleb Hinds Top Annual Emancipation Calypso Competition

Xhaiden Darius with the selection, Lead the Way, got the approval of judges to win the 27 th Annual Emancipation Calypso Competition in the 17 years and Under age group.

Jimecya Burnett performing a composition called “No Chains” placed second.

Third place went to Zachary Ransome with the rendition “Thank God For Emancipation”.

The competition was held on Sunday at the Government Campus Plaza Auditorium, Richmond Street, Port-of-Spain.

The event held the support of the National Action Cultural Committee and the National Youth Action Committee in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

In the 18 to 28 years age group first place was won by Caleb Hinds with a composition called “ No More”.

Second place went to Aaron Sinnette with a song entitled “ Return to Freedom”.

Third spot was captured by Bethany Lightbourne (Trinity)  with a tune named “ Black”.
