Commission Of Enquiry Into Paria Tragedy Assures Political Influence Not Impacting Its Work

Chairman of the Commission of Enquiry, Jerome Lynch, Kings Counsel, makes it clear there was no political interference which influenced in its decision to ask for an extension in the paria diving tragedy submitting its final report to the President.

On two occasions the Commission has sought an extension from the Head of State.

Speaking at a news briefing on Wednesday, Mr Lynch said the Commission wants to make sure all its bases are properly covered before presenting its final report.

He said all responses have now been collected and the commission is in a better position to move forward with its deliberations.

Mr Lynch was questioned on what assurances  he can give to the national community that there will be no further application for another extension; he said all is being done to make sure a final report is available by the end of November.
