PDP political leader Watson Duke reportedly barricaded himself inside the HDC building this morning.
He did so as he protested on behalf of East Port of Spain residents who are being relocated as part of the East Port of Spain expansion project.
He claims that the places they are being relocated to are inadequate.
He added that they are also not being given enough time to leave.
Housing Minister Camille Robinson-Regis says that contrary to Mr Duke’s claims the residents were given ample notice and are quite aware of the plans.
Mrs Robsinson Regis added that she believes Mr Duke’s actions are simply a ploy for him to gain attention ahead of his planned run for Port of Spain Mayor.
