TTCB Issues Disclaimer About April Fool’s Day Prank

The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board has issued a disclaimer about an April Fool’s Day prank which was published on the Red Force Facebook page.

The TTCB stated that although it appreciates the long established practice of playing tricks on friends, families and co-workers on April 1, it wishes to disassociate itself from the purported media release printed on the board’s letterhead and circulated on social media.

The undated letter advises cricket clubs that the TTCB had in an emergency meeting earlier this week, decided to cease all cricket under its aegis and carried the signature of former board secretary Surujdath Mahabir.

Today President of the TTCB, Azim Bassarath, confirmed reports of the fake letter and said a disclaimer on the Facebook post was made. Any inconvenience is regretted and the TTCB competitions continue apace with Premier League matches continuing this weekend he said.

The TTCB disclaimer issued states: “It has been brought to our attention that the attached correspondence has been circulating and has been deemed as purportedly released by us. Please be advised that this information is totally false and the attached is NOT associated with the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board nor any of its affiliates. We ask that you be guided accordingly.. Thank you..”
