TEMA Director says clean-up efforts originating from the overturned vessel in Tobago continue

(TEMA) has detected possible oil reaching northwest and west of Tobago, originating from the overturned vessel south of Cove.

The oil flow continues and efforts to deal with the issue are ongoing.

Additional booms have been acquired to aid in this regard.

This is according to TEMA’s Director Allan Stewart who spoke with the Power Breakfast Show this morning.

He said so far the event is at Level 2 however they are at the brink of a Level 3.

He explained the levels are directly related to the Tobago House of Assembly and the National Oil Spill Contingency Plans which go in tier levels.

He went on to explain that drone footage and satellite images indicate that the vessel is still leaking hydro carbon.

However he explained that at this point treating with that issue comes with its own concerns.
