A Cunupia businessman is assisting police with investigations relative to the discovery of stolen vehicle parts found at his business place in Cunupia.
The discovery was made while officers of the Stolen Vehicle Squad (SVS) conducted an exercise in Central Division on Friday 8th September, 2023 during the period 2:30pm to 5:50pm.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Sup’t Ramkelawan, Superintendent Pariman and ASP Ramdass, supervised by Inspector Lazarus and Sgt. Julien. The officers went to a location in Cunupia and conducted a search of the premises.
A total of 30 damaged motor vehicles and five engines were seen and examined at the location.
During the search officers observed that the chassis numbers of several of the vehicles were cut out, including a damaged white Hyundai Elantra shell with registration plate which is connected to another vehicle of the same make which was seized by members of the SVS in May of 2022.
The vehicle’s chassis number also appeared to be tampered chassis.
