Suspect held following larceny incident in San Juan

Quick work by officers of the North Eastern Division yesterday resulted in the arrest of a suspect wanted for the larceny of a quantity of jewelery.

The victim, a 27-year-old businessman of San Juan, was conducting sales around 4:40pm, on Saturday 8th January, 2022, when a man pretending to be a customer entered. The man then pulled out a knife and announced a hold up. The assailant relieved the victim of a quantity of cash and a cellular phone before running out of the establishment.

The businessman gave chase and was able to retrieve his phone from the suspect, before the man escaped.

Upon returning to his business place, the victim discovered a quantity of valuable items missing. On viewing the security camera footage, the businessman observed another man enter the establishment and remove the items.

A report was made and officers of the North-Eastern Division Task Force responded and proceeded to the Priority Bus Route, where they intercepted a red-band maxi taxi in which the suspect was seated. The suspect, a 29-year-old of Diego Martin, was found with the stolen items in his possession.
Investigations are ongoing.
