Two men shot dead in separate attacks in St James and Tunapuna

Shootings in St James and Tunapuna overnight have left two men dead.

In the first incident, 49-year old Stephon Alexander of Nizam Street, St James, was liming with a group of friends near a bar along Bournes Road, St James when two masked men walked up to him and shot him several times.

The suspects then escaped.

Alexander, who was an amputee, died at the scene.

He was not known to the police.

Meanwhile, in Tunapuna, officers responded to a report of a shooting at a variety store along the Eastern Main Road in Tunapuna.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where he died while undergoing treatment.

The man’s identity is yet to be released by police.
