Police arrest bandits soon after robbery

Police arrested two men and seized a .9mm Beretta pistol after they were involved in a shootout with them on Sunday night.

The men who hail from Siparia robbed a man in Curepe Junction around 9:30pm, and would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for the police officers who were on patrol at the time and saw the robbery first hand.

Reports indicate that the police saw one man with a hoodie rob another man and then escaped into a waiting car. The victim told the police what happened and they chased after the men. The men fired shots at the police who returned the gunfire.

The assailants were stopped after being trapped by the police vehicles. The two men, ages 23 and 24, were arrested and taken into custody.
