Cocaine worth approximately half a million dollars was seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area South, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Aranguez district on Wednesday afternoon.
The exercise was conducted between 1 pm and 5 pm, on Wednesday 24th, during which officers proceeded to a courier shipping company in the Aranguez district, relative to a suspicious package received.
A search was conducted at the premises and a total of 17 brown coloured packets containing cocaine were found hidden inside a popcorn machine.
The drugs weighed a total of 360 grammes and has an estimated street value of TT$501,811.
In a separate exercise, this time in the South Western Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise in the Guapo district between 5 pm and 9 pm, Wednesday.
Several searches were conducted which resulted in 1.5 pounds of marijuana being discovered in a bushy area.
Two suspects were also arrested in connection with various offences including Possession of a Weapon.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
