Opposition MP calls for greater urgency in wage negotiations

Former Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Rudy Indarsingh is calling for greater transparency and urgency in wage negotiations between the Government and the labour movement.

He made the call while speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show this morning.

The Member of Parliament for Couva South noted that there are persons still operating on 2014 salaries.

He pointed out that in some cases, there are three periods of collective bargaining agreements still outstanding.

Addressing the efficiency of the trade union movement and whether they are innovative enough in their operations, the former Minister in the Ministry of Labour said trade unions will always seek to address the real purchasing power of their members.
