Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said government intends to offer face-to-face classes for children in Forms 4 to 6, who are fully vaccinated come October 1st.
Speaking at today’s media briefing at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, Rowley restated the Ministry of Education’s directive that schools will reopen virtually on September 6th.
However, he noted that fully vaccinated students in Forms 4, 5 and 6 will be allowed the option to return to school on October 1st, while the unvaccinated students will have to continue participating in online classes.
The PM lamented that only 25 % of the school population eligible for the Pfizer vaccine has been administered the shot thus far, as he had hoped that figure would have been considerably higher by the end of August.
He hopes however, that all eligible children will be fully vaccinated by September 14th.
