Teachers and healthcare workers now eligible for Pfizer shot

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has confirmed that the Pfizer vaccine, which was initially rolled out for children only between the ages of 12-18, will be allowed to be administered to teachers and healthcare workers.

Speaking at Saturday’s media conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday, Deyalsingh said these category of workers will now be able to access the Pfizer vaccine.

This news comes on the heels of the ministry’s revelation that only 36 per cent of the population have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while only 25 per cent of eligible children have been vaccinated.

Deyalsingh also noted that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine will now be available at all 109 health centres across the country.
