Did you know T&T officially became a Republic on August 1?

In sending Republic Day greetings to the nation, the Ministry of Planning and Development reminded citizens that the country officially became a Republic on August 1^st, 1976.

But there’s a reason why the occasion is celebrated on September 24- it was the first day that the Parliament met under the new constitution.
