Minister of National Security Stuart Young successfully defended a legal challenge in the High Court, which was brought by Ms. Shirlanne Sacha Singh.
According to a media release issued by the Ministry this afternoon; on Friday December 11, 2020, the matter which was based on the exemption process put in place by the Government to manage the entry of persons into Trinidad and Tobago, was challenged by Ms. Singh.
The Ministry report states that “the High Court rejected the allegations of bias and unfairness about the Minister’s handling of the exemption process. The allegations were found to be unarguable and without a realistic prospect of success.”
The Ministry also reported that this is not the first matter that was successfully defended by Minister Young over the past few months with respect to the closure of Trinidad and Tobago’s borders.
Minister Young indicated the Ministry’s commitment to manage the entry of persons into Trinidad and Tobago in accordance with the exemption process, and to uphold the law.
