In a heartbreaking but well-deserved win, the Barbados Tridents knocked out defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to earn their spot in the Finals of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL)on Saturday, against the mighty Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Tridents made a slow but constant 160/6 thanks to good batting by Johnson Charles who made 35 runs and Ashley Nurse who made 24 off nine balls. Nurse’s all-round performance continued as he took two wickets for 14 runs, sending Denesh Ramdin and Darren Bravo back to the dugout. Raymond Reifer also contributed to the win with a competent 24 runs.
Charles however, proved to be the star player of the night after he took two wickets from the TKR. Things got worse for the Knight Riders as TKR’s last hope Seekkuge Prassanawas was caught out after scoring 51 runs off 27 balls, which included four fours and four sixes. The TKR made a slow and disappointing 148 all out, giving the Tridents a shot at glory on Saturday.
