A 98-year-old man has died after fire engulfed his Santa Cruz home on Friday evening.
The victim is Malcom Diaz, who was visually impaired.
Around 6:45pm officers of the Santa Cruz Police Station responded to a report of house on fire at Rosemary Street, Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz.
On arrival, they observed a white concrete structure in flames.
Officers from the Wrightson Road Fire Station responded and extinguished the fire.
The elderly man’s charred remains were discovered in a bedroom.
