Venezuelan Man loses hand during argument

A 32-year old Venezuelan national lost his right hand during an argument with another man on Friday morning.

Around 9:30a.m, Carlos Esperanza was at Smith Hill, Carenage talking with a group of men when he got into an altercation with a man from the group. The man got a cutlass and chopped off Esperanza’s right hand. He also lost a finger.

Esperanza was taken to the St. James Medical Facility then transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where surgery was performed to reattach the hand.

The Carenage suspect is still at large.

Police are continuing investigations.
