Usher sets record straight on rumours of a ‘Confessions’ sequel

Usher has set the record straight on the possibility of a Confessions sequel — and fans of 90s R&B are going to be sorely disappointed in his answer.

Stopping by The Shade Room on Saturday (May 13), the “You Make Me Wanna” singer revealed that there will not, in fact, be a Confessions 2.

That’s just a rumor, at this point,” he said about the possibility of a sequel to the groundbreaking album. “But, who knows? When we get there, we’ll see.”

He continued: “We got time. There’s space and opportunity to think of new ideas. But the one that is 20 years old was a brilliant one. For every producer, writer, and creative that had anything to do with it, we celebrate 20 years of an album. I mean, most people don’t even have careers that last that long. So, to have an actual album that has stood the test of time? I appreciate my fans for continuing to love the music

Usher has been riding the wave of Confessions‘ success for quite some time, taking his act to Las Vegas for a residency, where he serenades the girlfriends of famous Hip Hop stars (and other celebrities) as part of his show.

Last month, Joe Budden‘s girlfriend, Shadée Monique, was at the receiving end of some Usher musical lovin’.

In a video posted to her Instagram, Usher belted out “There Goes My Baby” and took Monique by the hand, who danced along with him as audience members behind the happy couple screamed with joy.

Ever the gentleman, Usher made sure to show Joe Budden some love before singing to his lovely lady.

Usher has had his fair share of celebrity visitors since he began his residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in February 2022.

Back in March, the crooner took a time-out during his performance to give Queen Latifah her flowers — literally. The New Jersey rap legend attended Usher’s concert on March 18, which also happened to be her 53rd birthday.
