TTFA Bankruptcy Act plan approved amid 2026 World Cup fears

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association’s debt repayment proposal filed under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act has been accepted.

This decision will allow the TTFA to begin dispensing payments to its creditors, some of whom, have been owed for more than a decade.

The proposal was accepted after former FIFA vice president Jack Warner and five of his companies, who are the largest listed creditors with a debt of $22.7 million, withdrew their objections to the plan.

His attorney, Rekha Ramjit, cited the possible effect of a drawn out procedure on the country’s chances of vying for qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
