Seecharan: Don’t make same mistake with monkeypox vaccs as you did with Covid

There has been a call from the United Naional Congress for the Government not to rely on the World Health Organisation and the Pan American Health Organisation for the monkeypox vaccine.

It insists that this would be repeating a past mistake.

Member of Parliament for Caroni East Dr Rishard Seecharan says the Covax Facility which was in part directed by the Garvy Vaccine Alliance and the WHO failed as a means of quitable access to Covid 19 vaccines.

With monkeypox now declared a global health emergency by the WHO he is making a special call to the Government in relation to the vaccines.

He says T&T would be at a disadvantage if it doesn’t follow suit.

Dr Seecharan explained while the vaccine is delivered in two doses 28 days apart there is a different approach being taken in the US.

He is suggecting that the same method can be used locally.
