Rowley sends his best to “kind” India, as they battle a skyrocketing surge in COVID19

The Prime Minister has reminded citizens that vigilance is required against the COVID19 virus.

In a post to his personal Facebook page on Saturday, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said renewed surges of the pandemic in India should serve as a chilling reminder to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the rest of the world.

Rowley said, “How easy it is for this dangerous virus to overrun any situation. Our thoughts are with the people of India who have been very kind to us. Let us not get tired of trying to fight off this virus. This is what pandemic conditions can be. Please be responsible. Nobody is exempted from this scourge.”

India donated 40,000 Covisheld vaccines to this country, which arrived on April 13.

Dr Rowley was diagnosed with COVID19 on April 6 and has been in quarantine at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Blenheim, Tobago since then.

For the fourth day in a row, India has set an unwelcome world record for new coronavirus infections, with 349,691 more cases in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, and another 2,767 lives lost.
