A Riverine Flood Alert Orange Level will be in effect until 6pm Saturday.
The Meteorological Service says river levels continue to be critical particularly along the Caroni River with lower banks already at spilling level.
It says additionally, there have been multiple reports of smaller water courses being filled, with flooding in low lying areas.
Other major rivers are contained at this time and are being closely monitored.
The Met Service is advising the public to monitor weather conditions and river levels before venturing out.
Avoid areas with flood waters.
Monitor updates from official sources and plan safety measures, including emergency supplies of food and water.
