A man was shot dead by police on Sunday night in St Barbs, Laventille.
Officers were called to the area around 8:30pm, after residents reported that there was a man with a gun, standing at Upper St Barb’s Road.
When police arrived on the scene, they saw the individual armed with an assault rifle and called on him to drop it.
However, the suspect ran away and reportedly shot at the police as they chased him. They shot back, hitting him several times.
The wounded man was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The man has been identified as Anthony Daniel, aka Pest
