PNM not satisfied with THA outcome; will seek recount in Bethel /Mt Irvine

PNM Tobago Council leader Tracy Davidson-Celestine said the outcome of the THA election “is not one we’re quite satisfied with but at this point, we’re still thankful.”

The PNM retained six seats in the THA election while the PDP claimed the remaining 6.

This has now placed control of the THA in limbo.

Davidson-Celestine won Lambeau/Signal Hill but this tie has also affected her bid to become the THA’s first female Chief Secretary.

Davidson-Celestine admitted that she did not expect the PDP to do as well they have done.

PNM Tobago chairman Stanford Callendar said the party would likely seek a recount in the Bethel/Mt Irvine seat which PNM appeared to have lost to PDP by a dozen-odd votes.

Callendar was unable to say how they would resolve the tie or what could be used to determine who would control the THA. He said the Constitution is silent on that.
