Woman charged with 5 counts of bank card fraud & $5K larceny against pensioner

A 38-year-old woman, who pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to five counts of fraudulent use of a bank card and two counts of larceny of $2,500, against a 66-year-old pensioner, was granted $65,000 bail with a surety.

Crystal Vikki, of Nurse Street, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, pleaded not guilty when she appeared virtually before Master Shabaana Shah and the matter was transferred to the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court.

Vikki was ordered not to communicate with the man and to report to her local police twice per week until her next appearance on May 16th, 2024.

The accused was arrested on April 14th and charged with the offences on April 15th by Cpl Joseph, of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

According to an October 5th, 2023, police report, the man told police that he observed discrepancies in his bank account at a commercial bank.

Mayaro CID launched further investigations into the details of the report and executed warrants at two commercial banks in Port-of-Spain where they obtained certain pivotal information.
The CID team subsequently received further investigative support from the Fraud Squad East Office which resulted in the charges against the woman.
