PM watching COVID numbers as he considers reopening beaches and a scaled down Carnival 2022

Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, says the government will continue to keep Trinidad and Tobago’s economy open.

Dr. Rowley speaking in an address to the nation Thursday evening said there have been a number of demands for a further opening up of the few areas which are still under restrictions.

Dr Rowley said he will continue to closely monitor the covid-19 numbers in the next couple of weeks and based on the results this will influence whether or not beaches and rivers are reopened to the public.

Dr Rowley also commented on the reliable advice the government has received with respect to carnival in 2022 adding the use of safe zone venues to hold events is one of the factors for consideration.
