Minimum wage earners whose electricity bill is 300 dollars or less will benefit from the rebate scheme in place by the government.
Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, is not of the view the increase in electricity rates will have any significant effect on minimum wage workers as they fall within the rebate structure.
Mr Imbert told a news briefing on Wednesday the rebate was set up to ensure the poor and vulnerable benefit from the measure.
The Regulated Industries Commission has presented the new rates to TATEC, the utility’s board will deliberate upon it before its goes to the cabinet for consideration.
