Yacthting arrivals increase hailed by Gov’t

Yacht arrivals to Trinidad for the year so far is over 600, four times more when compared to 2020 when the industry was shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pick-up in activity has resulted in the creation of jobs, and there is the prediction that the amount of yacht arrivals could reach in the vicinity of 800 by the end of the year.

Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, speaking at a news briefing this afternoon said the momentum in the sector is very encouraging.

Mr Imbert said the government has also decided to start a yachting marine apprenticeship programme which is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and seven million dollars will be allocated to this venture.
