Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a mother of two in Penal on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 7:45pm, as the 29-year-old woman was about to drive out of her apartment complex at Lake View Road.
She was in a Nissan Tiida vehicle with her two children and husband.
Reports state that as she was about to drive out of the complex, the woman saw three men with their faces covered and wearing dark clothing, armed with firearms, running past her car into the apartment compound.
She later heard a loud explosion and realised she was shot in her right elbow. The suspects are believed to have escaped in a black vehicle.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she is being treated.
Police retrieved one 9 mm spent shell and a projectile at the scene.
