School bus drivers to be paid in January

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has assured parents and guardians that there will be no issues regarding the transport of students when the new academic term begins on January 2nd.

School bus drivers operating under the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) had been lobbying for unpaid monies and had threatened to withhold their service until all outstanding sums were settled.

The drivers claimed not to have been paid for the past four months.

However, Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly stated that payments are processed through PTSC as invoices are received.

She noted that it is not a monthly bill, adding: “One bulk payment was made for the term, and another is being sent to PTSC today (Wednesday).”
