Penal labourer denied bail for gun possession

A 36-year-old labourer from Penal was denied bail when he appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate (Ag) Aden Stroude at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

TRAVIS ALI, aka ‘Fox’, who was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, was remanded into custody and the matter was postponed to Tuesday 18th May, 2021.

Around 6 am on Friday 30th April 2021, a party of officers executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at a house at Beckles Street, Penal.

Officers searched the premises, where they allegedly found a firearm, fitted with a magazine, which contained ten rounds of ammunition. PC Seepersad then arrested and later charged the accused with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The exercise was led by Sgt Haynes, Cpl Lake, PC Seepersad and officers of the Siparia CID and SWDTF.
