Parts of T&T in a “disaster state” after rains and floods

A disaster state is how some areas in Trinidad are being described.

Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Faris Al Rawi, said relief work is taking  place in Mayaro, Bamboo number Two, the North Coast, residential and hilly areas.

Speaking at a news briefing on Tuesday, Minister Al Rawi, said the authorities are still clearing many landslips and evacuating affected persons.

Floodwaters along the Uriah Butler Highway yesterday caused a traffic pile-up as far west as Cocorite and as far east as Trincity, leaving travellers stuck in gridlock traffic.
