80-year-old man pulls licenced firearm on would be bandit

An 80-year-old Las Lomas man sprang into action when he was almost robbed by a bandit outside a pharmacy in Arima on Wednesday.

The incident took place as the elderly man, a registered firearm user, arrived at GD’s Pharmacy on Broadway Street, Arima, at 12.45 pm. He then saw the suspect open the driver’s door of his car and get inside.

He confronted the suspect, who reportedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at him as he announced it was a robbery.

However, the victim reportedly pulled out his licensed firearm and fired one shot in the direction of the suspect, who jumped out the car and fled on foot.
