TT Parliament loses one of its own- procedural clerk assistant dies

Procedural Clerk Assistant at the Office of the Parliament, Sheranne Samuel, has died.
Samuel, 34, who was also a member of the Rotary Club of St Augustine died on Sunday. She was admitted to the hospital a week ago after complaining about a headache, nausea and dizziness.However, there was no CT (computed tomography) machine at the hospital to test Samuel when she was admitted.

She was, instead, tested for Covid-19 and was placed in the Accident and Emergency area.

She slipped into a coma after suffering several seizures and had to be placed on life support, but was taken off the support on Sunday night.

The Parliament posted their condolences to Samuel’s family in light of her loss:

“It is with a profound sense of sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague Ms. Sheranne Samuel, Procedural Clerk Assistant, Office of the Parliament. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends in their time of grief.”

Many local and international parliamentarians have expressed their shock at the death of Samuel who was described as quiet and confident.

The Rotary club from which Samuel was a member described her as an inspiration to many.

“May her light continue to shine in our hearts and may she rest in eternal peace,” said the club.

She was a charter member of her club and served as a director and president.
