Paria never planned for the possibility of divers being sucked into pipelines

Paria never foresaw the risk that persons could be sucked into its pipeline.

This is the startling admission coming today from the company’s Terminal Operations Manager, Colin Piper as he gave evidence before the Commission of Enquiry into the February 25^th diving tragedy.

The Commission’s attorney, Ramesh Lawrence-Maharaj, noted that Paria never planned for such an event in its Emergency Response plan.

However Piper sought to explain that it was the contractors’ responsibility to identify expert risks which should be included in the emergency response plan.
