Over 3,700 receive Sinopharm 1st jab in two days

3,719 persons have received their first dose of WHO-approved Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

This is according to the Ministry of Health, who revealed via a release this morning that the large turnout occurred over the first two days of the Sinopharm vaccination programme on May 21st and May 22nd.

The Ministry said TT continues to experience a high COVID-19 vaccine uptake, which is an important part of moving the country from the management to the control of the virus and then eventually returning to a state of normalcy.

It says even as the number of persons vaccinated continues to increase, the public is reminded that the COVID-19 vaccine is just one tool in the fight against the virus.

The MOH says it will continue to administer the Sinopharm shots to persons in Phase 1 of the programme:

People 60 years and over
People under 60 with Non-Communicable Diseases
Healthcare workers

The Ministry reminds that eligible persons are invited to make appointments to receive the vaccine using the call-in numbers or WhatsApp numbers for the various RHAs – walk-ins will not be facilitated.

T&T received 100,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China earlier this month.
