MOWT assures everything on track for smooth reopening of Piarco International Airport

Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan, has given the assurance that everything is on track for a smooth reopening of business at the Piarco International Airport.

In a GML interview, it was revealed that he will form part of a team that will tour the airport in the coming days ahead of the mid-July reopening of the borders.

Sinanan said “We are in preparation for the opening and sometime this week. I will be leading a team to the airport to ensure that everything is in place for the reopening- it was actually supposed to be today but we had Senate.”

He said the team will also include members of the Customs Department, the Immigration Division and Port Health, among others.

Sinanan added, “Once we get the all-clear and the borders are open, our airports will be open for business again and we look forward to being serviced by international airlines.”

Sinanan said all airlines and passengers will have to follow certain protocols, which will be set by the Ministry of Health in the coming weeks.
