A 43-year-old mother of one from Caroni was found dead with wounds to her neck on Sunday.
Reena Ragoonath-Charles, of Ragoonanan Trace, South Bank Road, Kelly Village, was found by relatives on the floor of her bedroom at around 7 pm, with blood on her mouth and her throat slit.
Her family immediately notified police.
A district medical officer pronounced her dead at the scene and ordered the removal of the body pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
Ragoonath-Charles was a janitor for the Airports Authority.
