Minister after NSC meeting: Talk will not fix crime problem

National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds says talk will not fix the crime problem.

This may sound like a surprising admission given yesterday’s marathon meeting of the National Security Council.

News Power Now asked Minister Hinds if he believed yesterday’s talks were successful.

However, Minister Hinds told News Power Now that “talk will not solve the problem”.

Prime minister Dr Keith Rowley was in attendance along with senior members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

He explained that what he hopes to bear fruit is the action which comes about as a result of the discussions at yesterday’s meeting.

Minister Hinds explained that other stakeholders will also be engaged coming out of yesterday’s meeting to do all that can be done to arrest the crime scourge facing the country.

The National Security Minister was asked for his thoughts on the comments of the Opposition Leader.

However Minister Hinds was uninterested in anything the Opposition had to say about yesterday’s meeting.

He told News Power Now that he was interested only in solutions not in noisemaking.
