One man is dead and another wounded following the daylight shooting in East Dry River, Port-of-Spain on Friday 19th April, 2024.
The deceased was only identified by his alias “Midget”, while the injured victim remains unnamed.
Around 12:00pm, a group of men were reportedly liming at Mariquite Street and Upper Duke Street, when gunmen approached and started shooting.
The suspects subsequently fled the scene in a burgundy-colored car and Midget and another man were observed bleeding from gunshot wounds.
Residents of the area heard a series of loud explosions and notified the police.
Officers from the Port of Spain Division and the Inter-Agency Task Force immediately responded to the scene where they were informed that warring gangs were exchanging gunfire.
The officers subsequently received information that two men were shot and taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where Midget succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
