Call For Urgent Follow Up To JSC Recommendations On Family Life Matters

The Single Fathers Association of Trinidad and Tobago is hoping several of the recommendations made by a Joint Select Committee of Parliament in December 2018 are treated with a level of urgency.

It claims four years later the group is not aware if any of the projections have been implemented.

Some of the proposals were highlighted during the Hard Talk Programme on Friday.

President of the organisation, Rondell Feeles, cited some of the areas relating to paternity leave, custodial arrangements, parental alienation, non-payment of maintenance, court orders, national insurance benefits and monitoring of persons.

Another association member, Shervon Lewis, is hoping the deliberations were not a talk shop but a way to find means to improve the system, make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper balance is given and appropriate action taken.
