Health Minister responds to Supermarket Assoc. on vaccines for its members

Minister of Health, Terrance Deyalsingh said he acknowledges the numerous requests by media houses to comment on a press release from the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago which was issued on Wednesday 17thMarch 2021.

 

It should be noted that the letter from the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago was dated Monday 15th March, 2021.

 

Requests of this nature require a studied response, inclusive of discussions with the Permanent Secretary, the Chief Medical Officer and the Legal Unit of the Ministry.

 

This is to ensure that vaccines imported into Trinidad and Tobago are safe and effective. This is the overarching principle that has guided the national vaccination programme.

 

The Minister of Health responded, in writing, to the Association on Wednesday 17th March, 2021 after all the required internal reviews were completed.

 

For transparency purposes, the Minister of Health releases the full contents of the letter to the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago for the public’s information.
