Gov’t Delivers A Range Of Social Support Measures To Cushion Covid19 Impact

A range of social support measures are being delivered to cushion the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This update comes from Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox.

Minister Cox made the comment while speaking at the sixtieth session of the Commission for Social Development.

The Commission for Social Development serves as the United Nation’s key advisory body with responsibility for the social development pillar of global development.

During the presentation of the country statement, Minister Cox stated the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in varied socio-economic challenges for the most vulnerable.

Minister Cox said in light of these setbacks, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago established a Roadmap to Recovery Committee, to chart the way forward in re-stimulating the economy and society for growth and stability post the pandemic.

Minister Cox said the Government through the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services continues to build resiliency by undertaking transformational changes to its national social services delivery system; including the provision of a range of social services through a ‘one door’ approach.
