Government Assures It Can Account For All Money Spent By Ministry Of Finance

False is how the Minister of Finance describes allegations from the Opposition that 386 million dollars has gone missing in the Ministry of Finance.

The Opposition Leader made the claims while speaking at the UNC Monday Night Cottage Meeting held at the Brazil High School.

Member of Parliament for Siparia, Kamla Persad Bissessar,  also called for an explanation of moneys leaving Trinidad and Tobago which she claimed amount to 231 million dollars.

This is in connection of money to international financial institutions as well as funding for incentives to farmers.

However, the Acting Prime Minister said the public is being misled on this matter and sought to clear on the issue.

Mr Imbert said the Auditor General report for last year has not yet been laid in the parliament and is not a public document.

In response, Minister Imbert explained the country has honoured  obligations to the Andean Development Bank in which contributions were made last year as well as the fiscal incentives for famers which have been going on for many years.

Speaking at this week’s virtual news briefing, Minister Imbert said all money spent by the Ministry can be accounted for.
