Errants HDC Tenants Only Evicted After Several Steps Are Taken

A series of steps are taken before the Housing Development Corporation decides to evict tenants who own the HDC outstanding money.

This update comes from the Minister of Housing, Camille Robinson Regis, while speaking at the HDC’S More Ways To Pay Final Installation.

The event took place at the Government Campus, Port of Spain on Tuesday.

Robinson Regis said the HDC allows for tenants to come forward and indicate whether or not they are experiencing any difficulties in honouring their payments to the Corporation.

Delinquent tenants who refused to vacant the housing unit they occupy by the stipulated time frame they are then told in person of their impending eviction.

Should errant tenants still refuse to comply after all attempts to recover outstanding funds then they are evicted.

It was revealed some of the tenants own the HDC thousands of dollars.

Recently the HDC evicted several tenants at various housing developments across the country.

Minister Robinson Regis also cited the need for the HDC to tighten its collection of payments from tenants.
